Armagnac is a French brandy, carrying the name of the very region of its origin. This golden brown spirit has since the 15th century, been produced by the foothills of the Pyrenees and for decades been the preferred avec at A Hereford Beefstouw.
The rather special thing about Armagnac is its rather unique ability to improve over a long period – in some cases more than a century. In contrast to Cognac, this southern French spirit is labelled with its vintage, making it easier to identify the interesting relationship between taste and age.
In our custom designed Armagnac racks, one can find upwards 35 different vintages of Armagnac from the famous producer Baron di Sigognac. In some of our restaurants, you even have the opportunity to taste Armagnac dating back before world war two.
Hence, Armagnac is not only a tasty way of rounding up a tasty dinner it is also a way of getting a unique and interesting insight into the world of vintages spirits.
